I had no strength and wouldn't be able to do a pull up and I'd probably struggle to do P90X workouts with 10 lb weights. If you were in my condition when I started my fitness journey at 320 lbs (in retrospect, was a bad idea and I would have gone T25 if it was available), as long as you can control yourself and learn when to stop, Insanity would be the better route. It's hard to compare since they're so different. I've replaced them with more intense ST coached workouts. Kenpo X (Saturday workout) is a waste of time for me as well. Plyometrics (your Tuesday workout) is a cakewalk for me, yet my friends who've completed P90X said that's one of the hardest workouts. During non-weight days, you'll be crying for some excitement. P90X doesn't hold a candle to Insanity in terms of intensity. I'd say Insanity is perfect for someone in good shape who already has strong fitness in other areas like strength, but lacks cardio endurance and wants to improve on that aspect of their fitness. Yes, you'll do push ups, and plank work, but you won't be able to do a pull up or lift too much more weight after an Insanity round. Insanity is much more cardio, leg, and core intensive. The Workouts It's not really fair to compare these, but it's what you want to know about when looking into a program. Personally, I love it, but I think dad-humor is hilarious. Some people can't handle the constant barrage of cheesiness. that would be a short uncle!" My brother used to hate him because he wanted someone more serious and loud, but it took him a while to warm up to him. He drops a bunch of one liners, like "Don't have a block? Use a dog/cat, whatever." Another example, "Don't have a chair ? Use a brother, sister, uncle. With him hosting, it's kind of like r/dadjokes took over your trainer. With that said, Tony does have his drawbacks. Write it down and get more next time." In contrast, I'll be struggling to get another Power Jump off, landing on my heels, and Shaun will be yelling at me for more, so I keep going - even with my poor landing which contributes to injury. If you can't do anymore, you can't do anymore. Tony will constantly say "Hey, don't be a hero. The problem is, Shaun T is such a great motivator, that you will sometimes push yourself beyond your limits and push yourself to injury. My wife tried to do a round recently and had to stop due to injury. I've injured myself 3 times doing Insanity before I completed it. I've pushed for extra push ups, extra squats, held a position longer because I felt like he was in my living room giving me the kick I needed - but that's where the problem is. That man motivates me like I've never been motivated before. Tony vs Shaun T There was something I couldn't place my finger on at first about Tony that I really liked, something that really made him seem in a league above Shaun T. I'm in week 4 of P90X and wanted to offer a comparison for anyone questioning what route they should take. I've seen a few posts during my time here asking if someone should Insanity, T25, Asylum, etc.
